Real Agent Guard: Real Estate Safety App

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Acorn, an influence company. All opinions are my own.

If you or someone you know is a real estate agent, or someone who plans on selling a home, then the service I am sharing with you today could potentially save your life. As someone who has owned a couple of homes and was house hunting as recently as last year, safety is definitely something that came to mind when going through the process. I know several real estate agents, many of whom happen to be women, and many times I have thought about the fact that I would feel a bit uneasy going alone to show a home to a complete stranger day in and day out. When I heard about Real Agent Guard, I was intrigued, because I know that if I was showing a home or holding an open house all by myself, I would certainly want some sort of security plan in place in the event that I was ever in danger. I would also want to know that my home is safe if I put it on the market and had strangers touring it several times a week.

Real Agent Guard is an agent safety app that provides easy to use, real-time monitoring of agents, and it also seeks to prevent violence by making it clear to potential perpetrators that the agent is being monitored. The app allows for real-time geo tracking, plus you can take and upload photos (of clients’ license plate numbers, for example), and set a check-in timer. If you do not “check in” at a certain time, it will alert the agency and/or a specific contact who can call and check in on you. If an agent misses check in, or uses the “panic” button or failsafe pin function, the agency or designated contact person can contact the police and forward the URL to authorities to track the agent’s real-time location and see any photos they’ve uploaded, etc.

Agents can also set up video monitoring at open houses using their laptop. Simply login and turn on the video monitor and your laptop acts as a security camera, recording surveillance video throughout the open house. I set it up in my living room/office so you can see it in use. Here, my laptop acts as a security camera and is recording footage of the room.

I know that this type of security monitoring would certainly provide peace of mind for me if I had to show homes to strangers, and I’m happy to get the word out about it and hopefully help protect any agents from possible violence. If you know a real estate agent or someone putting their home on the market, feel free to spread the word.
